Peng Yi-Hsuan is a Tainan-based artist and spatial practitioner who develops a cross-disciplinary and decentralized mode of practice through the interplay of artistic production, spatial operation, and publishing. His work extends beyond the making of artworks, focusing on how “things” are transformed, circulated, and reorganized across different systems.

Centered on the framework of Dong-Xi Shi (Things ,Acts,and Beings), Peng approaches objects as active agents that move between image, drawing, and ceramic processes, while also extending into exhibitions, residency programs, and publications. Rather than emphasizing singular outcomes, his practice builds evolving structures that can accommodate collaboration, exchange, and long-term dialogue.

As a co-founder of Tu Xing Studio and Zit-Dim Art Space, Peng has been actively facilitating connections among artists, curators, and researchers across Asia. Through residency programs and inter-institutional collaborations, he develops a network-based approach grounded in shared resources and distributed nodes. This model prioritizes sustained exchange over one-directional presentation.

His practice ultimately operates as a crystallizing model — where distributed nodes converge into structure, generating an expanding network of relations and agency.

最近很多亞洲國家觀光客到台灣遊玩, 不僅喜歡台灣的風情人物與美食, 連迎貴賓的停車場所使用的彩色遮陽網也產生深刻、美好的印象。
嚮往走在藍、綠、橘的清涼遮光網下,垂掛著悠閒的鬚鬚,腦海中傳遞著一幕幕台灣的美麗風景,洋溢著幸福快樂的感覺,會動腦筋的人好想將此情此景搬回自己的故家鄉,也讓家鄉的人感受一下- 來自台灣的幸福氣息…所以採購了彩色休閒遮光網回去搭建是最實際的方法了…


這段敘述來自於販賣彩色休閒遮光網的店家,彩色休閒遮光網很有渡假的 fu !,這是一般對於感官上的認知。在個人經驗裡,當自己坐在車子裡,車子剛好在加油站旁的自動洗車機清洗完畢,在等待的那刻,抬頭看到彩色休閒遮光網在車子上面飄動,它那鬚鬚般的存在就像在模擬樹叢被風揚起的感覺。瞬間有股錯覺以為自己不在城市裡,很像在渡假般的悠閒與舒適。但在下一刻也意識到這錯覺竟然是這樣的一叢塑膠材質、有規律的、單純的幾種顏色就讓我有這樣的感受,看似很美好的錯覺。


彩色休閒遮光網出現的性質千變萬化,會被安裝在台灣的公園、兒童遊戲區、露天游泳池、加油站、停車場、海邊…等,更有許多意想不到安裝地點。它的模仿來源是棕櫚科植物,我們所熟悉的椰子樹、檳榔樹等,但厲害的是,此產品居然有實際遮陽的功能,卻又有像是真實棕櫚科植物葉子悠閒飄動的氛圍。意思就是即使你種真實的棕櫚科植物也沒彩色休閒遮光網來的划算,讓你隨時都能有渡假的視覺又有遮陽的效果!


這種似曾相似的感覺如同持續延綿的連續風景,在真實的植物與塑膠鬚鬚互相累加,或許這也是能填補掉一些空缺。當自己身處於城市,總是想從中得到一些視覺上的安慰,一種悠閒渡假的異國風,那異國的想像並沒有超出台灣。




This description is from the store which sells a kind of net called “Leisurely color outside sunshade net”. Generally for our senses, the colorful net makes people feel like they are going on a vacation. In one of my personal experiences, I sat in my car and waited for the auto car washing machine where a nearby gas station finish working. As I was waiting, I raised my head and saw the colorful net waving on top of my car, and the beard-like plastic strips seemed to imitate the way of groves waving in the wind. Suddenly, I thought I was not in a city, but at leisure on a comfortable countryside vacation instead. To my surprise, the plastic material, its regular pattern and simple colors made me have a good feeling illusion.


The “Leisurely color outside sunshade net” can be set in various locations in Taiwan, for example like parks, play grounds, outdoor swimming pools, gas stations, parking lots, beaches, or other unexpected locations. Its shape imitates palmae plants, like coconut or betel nut palms. The remarkable part is the product has a sunshade function and provides the leisurely atmosphere as real palm leaves. It means if you spend the same price, the real palms have less value than the net—the net has both functions of vacation vision and sunshade effect. 


This déjà vu is like continuous landscape, and superposes real plants and plastic strips together, and perhaps it can fill up some of my heart’s vacancy. When I stay in a city, I always try to find some vision consolation–that is a kind of exotic vacation style, but the exotic imagining doesn’t go beyond the area of Taiwan.
